Which camera to open before a Madeira walk
The trails list on this site is a directory. The picture for the day is on a camera, not in the list.
·

The trails directory names the walks and where they start. It does not tell you whether the ridge is in cloud this morning. For that, open a camera before you drive.
Pico do Arieiro and PR1. The Pico do Arieiro camera looks at the car park and the start of the ridge. If that frame is grey, the walk to Pedra Rija will be grey. The path is one-way past that point toward Pico Ruivo, so the car you leave at Arieiro does not meet you at Achada do Teixeira. Read the car note before you book the full crossing.
Rabaçal and PR6. Private cars stay on the ER110. The Rabaçal camera shows the plateau, not the levada in the valley. Cloud on the plateau usually means a wet path at 25 Fontes. Parking and the shuttle are in the Rabaçal note.
Permits. Classified trails are booked on SIMplifica. The fee and the slot are on that portal. This page does not replace it. A map of the routes is at trails map.
