Because of its upland altitude, Santo da Serra creates a totally different climate from the coast. While Funchal and Machico are hot and sunny at 24 degrees, the fairways here often sit at 16 degrees with low-hanging mountain mist and brisk trade winds filtering through maritime pine trees.
