Where to look before you go out to eat
Espetada is Câmara de Lobos. The market and the old town are Funchal. The cameras show the streets, not a menu.
·

This is not a restaurant list. It is which camera matches the part of the island people mean when they talk about eating.
Espetada, beef on a bay leaf skewer, is the Câmara de Lobos meal. The harbor camera shows the town you are driving into. Black scabbardfish and lima beans (espada com banana) are what Funchal serves; the walk to find a table is the front note, and the port camera shows whether that end of town is a cruise crush. The market, Mercado dos Lavradores, is up from the seafront near Avenida Arriaga. Go in the morning. The camera will not show a stall.
Bolo do caco, the flat garlic bread, is everywhere. You do not need a special trip or a special camera for it. If the street you wanted is in rain on the camera, eat somewhere on the coast that is not.
