The Funchal cable car, from the camera
The Monte cable car camera shows the lower station and the bay. Wind, not a blog, stops the cabins.
·

The Funchal cable car runs from the seafront up to Monte. The camera looks at that lower end and the bay behind it. Use it to see the weather on the climb and whether the seafront is already full, not to guess whether the cabins are running. The operator stops them in wind. A clear picture is not a guarantee the line is open.
On a cruise morning the line is the problem, not the view. Check Pontinha first if you want to know whether a ship is in, then the cable car camera for the station itself. The harbor split is in which harbor camera.
Monte is cooler than the front. If you ride up, a layer is enough. The walk down through the gardens is the usual return if you do not want to line for a cabin back.
