The local council recently repainted the parking lines near the waterfront, making the spaces a bit clearer. The underground parking at Forum Machico is operating normally, but keep in mind that they only accept cash for the parking tickets.
About this webcam
This aerial vantage point shows exactly why Machico is one of the most popular destinations on the east coast. From up here, you can see how the historic town is built along the flat valley floor, squeezed between the steep, terraced hillsides and the ocean. Unlike the rugged north coast, this bay is wide and protected. Looking down at the waterfront, the contrast between the imported golden sand on the right and the darker, natural pebble beach on the left is very obvious.
Because the town is relatively flat, it is one of the easiest places in Madeira to explore on foot. You can park near the seafront and comfortably walk through the historic center, visiting the 15th-century main church and the small local shops without having to climb steep hills. The promenade lining the bay is wide and shaded by large trees, perfect for a relaxed stroll after lunch at one of the seafood restaurants overlooking the water.
