Getting around: airport, Funchal, and the roads that are slow
The airport cameras and the harbor cameras tell you about the day. They do not replace a bus time.
·

Funchal airport is east of the city at Santa Cruz. The runway cameras show the approach, not the taxi line. Arrivals are on the aviation page. The coast road into Funchal is fine until a cruise day stacks coaches on the seafront. Look at Pontinha before you promise a pickup time.
Inside Funchal, the useful picture is the cable car camera if Monte is the plan, and the port if you are walking the front. Buses cover the city and some of the coast. They do not solve a one-way ridge walk. That problem is the PR1 car note.
A rental car is what people use for Porto Moniz, Rabaçal, and Santana. The roads are narrower and slower than the distance suggests, with tunnels on the north coast. Open the camera at the far end before you leave, using the morning check.
